Nov 24, 2021 at 16:37 comment added user50422 @MikeBorden - Not the entire creed necessarily, just the part about belief in the Trinity being necessary for salvation.
Nov 24, 2021 at 13:10 comment added Mike Borden It seems like you are asking if there are any Trinitarian denominations that reject the Athanasian creed?

Nov 24, 2021 at 7:53 comment added user50422 @Dottard - how is the first sentence disputable? Doesn't the Athanasian Creed claim that belief in the Trinity is necessary for salvation?
Nov 24, 2021 at 2:10 comment added Dottard I would dispute your first sentence - correct belief (which no one can claim) is not essential for salvation - if it were, no one would be saved. Many strange ideas will need to be corrected when we meet Jesus face to face. Trinitarianism might be a requirement for membership in some denominations, but very few now have a formal (or even informal) exam to test belief. In any case, we are not allowed to judge others, including whether they have right belief or not.

Nov 23, 2021 at 14:13 comment added user50422 @DJClayworth - I don't think anyone truly understands the Trinity given that Trinitarians themselves acknowledge that it is a mystery, but good point nonetheless. I'm asking about those who at least explicitly claim to be unsure, unconvinced or skeptical regarding Trinitarian doctrine. For example, someone who believes that there is not enough compelling evidence to make a definite case for Trinitarianism, and they decide on that basis to withhold judgement. In a way it is a form of practical "rejection", because they do not embrace the doctrine.
Nov 23, 2021 at 14:07 comment added DJClayworth There is a significant difference between not believing (or not understanding) the Trinity and rejecting the Trinity. Are you asking about only those who explicitly reject it?
Nov 23, 2021 at 10:06 comment added Perry Webb Most of them just require believing Jesus is the Son of God and the Christ.

Nov 23, 2021 at 3:19 comment added user50422 @DJClayworth - sure, as long as they are Trinitarian and don't consider the Trinity to be an exception to the rule.
Nov 23, 2021 at 3:00 comment added DJClayworth Lots of denominations don't presume to decide who is saved or not based on their doctrine alone. Would they count?
