Nov 9, 2015 at 16:32 comment added Flimzy @sirdank: It's a matter of definition. There are well-established denominations that consider themselves to be Christians and Universalists. Whether they are considered "protestant" would be the only sticking point... and that's primarily a matter of opinion.

Nov 9, 2015 at 16:31 comment added sirdank @curiousdannii I have updated my question to more specifically define what it means to accept as Christian and to say that I don't care about possible individual opinions which might cause complication when answering this.

Nov 9, 2015 at 16:25 comment added sirdank @Flimzy Mentioning universalists seems like a trivial case. As far as I know, there are no Protestant denominations for which universalism is a requisite belief. Also, I mentioned in my question "Protest denominations (not Latter Day Saints themselves)"
Nov 9, 2015 at 16:19 comment added curiousdannii @Flimzy Oh good point. Depends on the type of universalism though, as some would say they may end up saved even though they're not one of God's people now? I think this question does need to be closed, as every answer will just end up approaching it from a different, contradictory direction.
Nov 9, 2015 at 16:17 comment added Flimzy If your definition of "Christian" is "saved" or "will end up in heaven," then the answer is clearly yes, as there are a large number of Protestant universalists.
Nov 9, 2015 at 16:16 comment added curiousdannii There would also be some Protestants who would be willing to call them 'Christian' in the sense that this very site requires, in recognition of their self-identification as Christians, but who would not think they were saved or had a true faith in the gospel.
Nov 9, 2015 at 15:53 comment added Nathaniel is protesting This is tricky too because there's the question of how many Mormons are Christians. "Do any Protestant denominations believe that individual Mormons can be Christians?" is a different question from "Do any Protestant denominations believe that all/most Mormons are Christians?"

Nov 9, 2015 at 14:54 comment added DJClayworth In Protestantism it's pretty safe to say that there is at least one group that believes almost anything.
