counter-intuative or not "what does the bible say about X" is not a question format that works very well here; the person suggesting this was answerable suggested that an overview of vairous views answer mgiht work, so adapting to that before opening
Jun 28, 2014 at 0:25 comment added user3961 As is, I would say that it is closer to Type 5 "biblical basis" because your question now reads effectively "Does the Bible allow or disallow this?" This is a risky format for being seen as too broad, depending on the topic, but, here, I think you are alright.
Jun 27, 2014 at 22:12 comment added shakAttack @fredsbend I think i am, for this question, between category 6 and 7, but thanks for the link. very helpful. Nice work

Jun 27, 2014 at 21:41 comment added user3961 @ShakAttack Your question has been edited to say that and there are three reopen votes. It needs five before people can answer it. If/once it gets there, I think the only real definitive thing you will get will be in OT Law, though there are a few NT verses on marriage, but I don't think this particular topic is covered. We will see, hopefully.
Jun 27, 2014 at 18:19 comment added shakAttack @Caleb As i mentioned in pervious comment, I just want to know what Bible, specially NT has some instructions about it.
Jun 27, 2014 at 18:16 comment added shakAttack As Christianity roots are in the Jewish beliefs so i was wondering that if this apply to us. It has happened in my family that a brother has married the wife of his deceased brothers. One of the family is pentecostal and the other one is presbyterian.

Jun 27, 2014 at 14:09 comment added Narnian I'm a little confused. Is the brother deceased or his brother's wife? I don't think anyone can marry someone else who is already deceased.
Jun 27, 2014 at 14:03 comment added Andrew I agree that the question can be answered, especially in light of Paul's advice to the church that young widows marry. If the question is is it okay?, an answer in the affirmative citing a lack of prohibitions in the doctrines of Christian groups (if that is the case) is sufficient.

Jun 27, 2014 at 13:18 comment added DJClayworth I believe it's possible to give an overview answer to this question that presents most of the Christian views. Vote to reopen.

Jun 27, 2014 at 7:33 comment added Caleb According to who? Questions like this need to be scoped to some specific theological tradition as different groups using the name "Christian" have different doctrines on many issues like this. This site is not the place to figure out which one is "correct".
