May 16, 2015 at 11:42 comment added synaptik "Eating" in the scriptures symbolizes appropriation. To eat his flesh means to partake of his life and depend on him for sustenance in the wilderness of life. To drink his blood is to give ourselves to suffer for his sake. Christ gave his blood for us. We drink his blood metaphorically and spiritually by partaking in suffering, that is, coming to the cross and dying to ourselves. So, blood: die to ourselves; bread: live unto Christ.
