I was an atheist for 10 years, but after 2 or 3 years years of pouring my heart into agonizing research and mind splitting self-reflection, I had a conversion experience beyond my wildest expectations. I'm no saint, but after delving into the history of Christianity, Judaism, learning about Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, people's personal experiences, and eventually even deeper, into Gnosticism, Hermeticism, Kabbalah, Alchemy, the Occult, even The Secret Teachings of All Ages—something snapped—: I learned 2 or 3 things about being made new. Now, there's only one book I need in my heart, and I can't get enough of His bread.
