The dissolution of a marital union, not to be confused with annulment
Divorce is the termination of a marital union, dissolving the bonds of matrimony according to the rule of law of a particular government. It should not be confused with annulment (which declares the marriage null and void) or separation (in which spouses remain married but live apart).
