A rite of initiation in some Christian denominations

Confirmation is a rite, or sacrament, of initiation in some Christian denominations. Among Roman Catholics, it is considered a sacrament, and is applied those who have been baptized who are old enough to understand (i.e., not infants, as is the case with baptism).

Among Protestants, it is considered a rite, typically involving a public profession of faith made by one who was previously baptized.
