After his baptism we read that Jesus went off into the wilderness fasting for 40 days and being tempted by the devil. At one point the devil takes him to a mountain from which Jesus can see all the kingdoms of the world. That would likely be a vision since there is no mountain from which one could see all the kingdoms of the earth. But is it also a vision when we read that the devil took Jesus to the tallest point of the temple and tempted him by saying throw yourself down for if you are the son of God you will not be hurt? In theory it is possible that Jesus literally stood on the highest part of the temple looking down to the floor of the valley Kidron. What is an overview of explanations for how this may have occurred?
