In Matthew 5:5 Jesus repeats the promise of Psalm 37:11:

Psalm 37:11 But the meek will inherit the land and delight in abundant prosperity.

YLT Matthew 5:5 'Happy the meek -- because they shall inherit the land.

(Oddly most English translations translate "land" as "the earth"):

Either way it is translated it refers to an inheritance on this planet, not in the sky ("heaven"). I was under the impression that an earthly, Promised Land inheritance was at odds with the Preterist eschatology. Do I understand correctly? How do they explain Matthew 5:5?
