So I don't think there's any evidence that Luther was particularly committed to the idea, but there may (emphasis on may) be some that he at least thought about the possibility.

Apr 13, 2016 at 21:40 comment added KorvinStarmast @Nathaniel That's of great interest, if you can dig it up. There is currently an Eastern Rite church that isn't Eastern Orthodox but is in communion with the RCC. Might that be who he was in communication with?
Apr 13, 2016 at 21:16 comment added Nathaniel is protesting I recall reading or hearing about an attempt by Luther or another early Reformer to initiate discussions with the East, but I can't find a reference to it. If I come across it hopefully I'll remember to comment again!
