Your point also refutes many naive ideas that Christians--especially conservative and literalist Christians--have about the Bible. Biblical literalism is itself a relatively recent phenomenon that postdates the emergence of modern science, and is out of step with the way the Bible was read throughout most of the history of Christianity.
