Saved from the web by a job in industry. Coding GUI for computer-aided railway realignment machinery.
At last a job where I have time to do stuff properly and don't have to worry about loads of unfixed bugs coming back to haunt me.

What is the purpose of godparents? @AndrewLeach, I suspect that Jay may not have noticed the 'catholicism' tag (I didn't at first). |

What is God's definition of forgiveness? @KodeKreachor, for many people this is a 'novel' understanding, but it is not completely off-the-wall. But don't take my word for it. If this topic interests you, you might want to familiarise yourself with the arguments from both points of view. |

What is God's definition of forgiveness? @Eric, you may be right, but it is a rather exceptional circumstance, which merits more examination than a) space allows and b) I'm qualified to provide. But briefly: they obviously did know they were crucifying someone, they just didn't realise who. So you could infer that Jesus was just asking the 'debt collector' to bear that in mind... |

Is Mary's virginity evidence that sex is always sinful? @Ingo, he cites David's "conceived in iniquity" as proof that even though David's parents were married, sex was a sin. A more modern interpretations would be that David's mother wasn't his father's wife :) |

Is Mary's virginity evidence that sex is always sinful? @Ingo, maybe nobody believes this now, but Pope Gregory the Third certainly did (fordham.edu/halsall/basis/bede-book1.asp, Chapter XXVII) |

Can all sin be categorized as selfishness? It sounds like you're conflating 'sin' and 'evil', I guess I was making a distinction (which maybe I shouldn't). |

Can all sin be categorized as selfishness? I think that if you revise the statement to say "Selfishness is the root of all evil" we could all agree... (as long as we're not too picky about the definition of 'selfishness' and 'evil' :)) |

What exactly IS Hell? I'd love to post this as an answer, but it's just a link. Randy Olds did an excellent series where he asked lots of questions about hell, and did an amazing amount of research. He hasn't quite got round to finishing it yet, but there's already plenty of food for thought. |
