Saved from the web by a job in industry. Coding GUI for computer-aided railway realignment machinery.

At last a job where I have time to do stuff properly and don't have to worry about loads of unfixed bugs coming back to haunt me.

comment If Christians believe that Christ was a God and immortal (or resurrected), why do some avenge his killing in his name?
@Jon, well I guess we can safely say that no Muslims are avenging the crucifixion...

When you say the most profitable, I'm assuming you mean the most edifying...?

comment Why did Satan tempt Jesus in the desert?
I'm not sure that Satan knew that Jesus was going to die for us.

It seems to me that your explanation requires Israel to be interpreted differently in vs 25 and 26, no?

comment Mental Illness vs. Demon Possession
@Ian, my thought was similar: would Jesus healing epilepsy today be any less wonderful than him casting out a demon then?

comment Can a Christian believe in Oni (Japanese Demons)?
Yes, my reaction on reading the question title was: you should be asking if it makes sense for a Christian to believe in Japanese demons...

comment What is a Christian's justification for a legal prohibition of homosexual marriage?
I'm not sure about the context in the US, but it seems to me that the way your phrase is titled is partially responsible for the kerfuffle in the answers. In the UK in any case, it isn't a question of (some) Christians wanting a 'legal prohibition of homosexual marriage', but rather being opposed to a redefinition of marriage (as currently defined by the law) to include same-sex couples (who can already legally have 'civil unions').

@AndrewLeach, I suspect that Jay may not have noticed the 'catholicism' tag (I didn't at first).

comment What is God's definition of forgiveness?
@KodeKreachor, for many people this is a 'novel' understanding, but it is not completely off-the-wall. But don't take my word for it. If this topic interests you, you might want to familiarise yourself with the arguments from both points of view.

comment What is God's definition of forgiveness?
@Eric, you may be right, but it is a rather exceptional circumstance, which merits more examination than a) space allows and b) I'm qualified to provide. But briefly: they obviously did know they were crucifying someone, they just didn't realise who. So you could infer that Jesus was just asking the 'debt collector' to bear that in mind...
