How can women be forbidden to speak and yet prophesy and speak in tongues? Paul was speaking in context. In the culture of Corinth it would not have been expedient for a woman to be in authority over the man, so Paul was giving that church instructions for that purpose. |

Is God of Anger or of Love? I don't get the part about Israel completely, as in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, so I removed my upvote. Otherwise, well put. |

The Bible seems to allow polygamy. Why doesn't the church? @Richard: So then, when the Bible says that Solomon was led astray by his multiple wives (and btw, a King was not supposed to do that (multiply wives)), it was just a passing joke? |

Is it possible to be a Christian by birth? I think the JTB thing is a wee bit too out of our scope for it to be used as an example so lightly. |

How could Cain have built Enoch? @AlexeiAverchenko 13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. - That was the punishment, God simply removed the risk of execution. |

How does the Bible explain the existence of fossils that are millions of years old? @Fabian that was done with a snail once, and the snail had two very different readings. Also you must take into consideration that the conditions of a global flood possibly involving radioactive material exposure on the surface can have skewed what we are getting today; and do I really need to go on? Radiometric dating is known to be flawed and I don't see why people hold on to it? It is mostly based on ratios, but ratios cannot be constant in a changing world when dealing with the level of materials (ran out of comment space...). |

Where does the belief that the Earth is relatively young (6000 years) come from? Also, why the "picking at nits"? I understand both sides - he should use "radiometric" instead of chemical - but does the common man care? Nope. So let it stand please. |

Where does the belief that the Earth is relatively young (6000 years) come from? Just because evolution is "accepted" by a lot of people, doesn't make it "fact". I'm not accusing, but I'm quite sure the down votes and many comments are simply because his answer touched a nerve, and personally I think it's a rather good one. |

How could Cain have built Enoch? @AlexeiAverchenko God extended grace to him through giving him a mark, so that he did not receive the deserved execution. We do not know (because it is not said) whether Cain ever walked with God after that. However what is important here is that God gave him a second chance through sparing his life. |

How does the Bible explain the existence of fossils that are millions of years old? The Bible doesn't mention the concept of fossils, but it sure does mention where they come from. |

How does the Bible explain the existence of fossils that are millions of years old? @NeilBarnwell: you do realize that finding fossils in itself is a rare thing? Finding humans from a time where the entire human population was rather low is thus very unlikely. However, you must admit that human fossils (that have begun to petrify or have already done so) are occasionally found, and there are also cases where fossils of animals that have not fully turned to stone (but should have) have been found. |

How could Cain have built Enoch? @AlexeiAverchenko: I think it's obvious what would have happened. It's right there - someone would have killed him (execution) for killing his brother. He founded a city because he had descendants, what part of this contains "he was afraid of it?" |
