I'm not 100% sure it would be on-topic there, either. It's an interesting question, though... One I've wondered about here and there, but not that I've ever dwelt on long enough to research it.

The question "How could a loving God create hell?" has already been answered in various guises on this site. The underlying question, as you just pointed out, is this. Which is why I voted to close as a duplicate in the first place.
