I'm a hobbyist programmer, part-time sysadmin, and full-time data center management, automation, and cloud computing architect and delivery engineer.

I have experience with myriad editors, shells, and OSes. While I have my [strong] preferences, am pretty much beyond the religious wars of "what's best" when it comes to platform, editor, or toolset: if it works for the problem at hand, and you know it, it's [probably] worthwhile :)

comment How is love greater than faith?
@RiverC - how does 'love' "entire as as the attribution" meet "most closely" God?

comment Can I believe in evolution and still be a Christian?
@Flimzy - Paul says that death came through the sin of Adam: that was not a view that "did not exist until very recently"

comment What is the nature of eternal security?
also to note, "remember" is very different from "recall", one relates to application of a thought or memory, and the other regards the actual memory itself

comment How is it that an unchanging and omniscient God can have “regret” as He did in Gen 6:7?
@zipquincy - God is going to do the same thing again when Christ returns ("execute" everyone, "no matter what their sins") because 'the wages of sin is death'‌.

comment Are birthday celebrations ungodly?
@Sonic The Hedgehog : I don't know, but I'm guessing it wasn't the "hokey pokey" .. most kings wouldn't offer up to half their kingdom for a quiet waltz, either

comment Are birthday celebrations ungodly?
@Nok - her son was also born at the time of the annual sacrifice. This may be more of a coincidental occurrence, but it is most certainly a celebration of his birth, too (and a annual gift to him at least through childhood)

comment How is it that an unchanging and omniscient God can have “regret” as He did in Gen 6:7?
@zipquincy - don't confuse God's omnibenevolence with His perfect justice. God is many things in infinite perfection, and skewing a view to exclude all of His attributes is unhealthy (and yet something all Christians have done (and will do) in their lives)

comment Are there “rational” criteria for which books appear in the Bible?
for an expansion on the comment re Hebrews, see here Did Paul write the Epistle to the Hebrews? There are a wide range of researched views on the topic, but in short - we don't know for certain who wrote it.

never would've expected a reference to Andrew Lloyd Webber in this way on this site :)

can you provide some references for these statements? As it stands, this isn't a good answer for this site

comment What should be a Christian's attitude when his prayers are not answered?
@Jim G. - that is what I would say, yes: it's precisely how God answered David

you might also want to add 2 Cor 12:7

comment What should be a Christian's attitude when his prayers are not answered?
ALL prayers are "answered" - sometimes it's "yes", sometimes it's "no", and sometimes it's "you won't know yet"

comment Does Calvary Chapel assume everything is wrong in this world?
I'd hasten to point out that if we're NOT focused on the next life, this life can overshadow everything else
