comment How literally do you take and universally apply what Jesus said?
Wow I never realized that "Thou shalt not covet" was left out.

Excellent answer!

comment How did Jesus reconcile his teachings with Judaism?
@DanAndrews There's actually a pretty good discussion about that on the forums already: christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/2911/…

comment What denominations don't believe in fasting? And Why?
Since you already believe in fasting, a better question might be what denominations don't believe in fasting and what is their biblical basis?

comment “How do I get more faith?” - how to understand Jesus' answer?
To go along with that a seed needs nutrients and water to grow. Reading the bible and prayer are vital to nurturing that seed.

comment Was the wine in The Last Supper fermented?
@Richard True, the yeast thing is modern but I think that proves the point, Would the ancient Israelites have known to link the fermentation of wine to rising of their bread? Perhaps that's a good question for the history or Judaism.

comment Was the wine in The Last Supper fermented?
I know in most modern Jewish Seders that they use wine. I don't believe the restriction on leavening here applies to wine.

comment How would they know if Timothy was circumcised or not?
Also there's a good bet that at that time there was a ritual of sorts involved when someone got circumcised. I know there is one today when a baby gets circumcised (at least for Jewish babies) so it kind of makes sense that the there would be something similar back then. Either way the person who performed it was likely a respected Jewish man whom other Jews would believe.

comment How do we reconcile the futility of Ecclesiastes with the reward of heaven?
I have to agree with Mason here, the way this reads to me is that the dead no longer have a reward "under the sun" or here on earth.

comment Since God provided for the forgiveness of sins in the Old Testament, why do we need Jesus?
Yeah it's the difference between washing a dirty pair of jeans and making a new pair.

comment Why is rape not in the 10 commandments?
It would be good to quote the scripture here in your answer. Also Jesus even raised the bar on what it meant to commit adultery the two combined would make a good argument.

Could also be a dupe of christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/456/… or christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/30/… or christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/15/…

comment Why is rape not in the 10 commandments?
I'm surprised that you didn't use the commandment "Do not covet" as the basis for your argument. Desiring (and really going beyond desiring) something that's not your seems to be the root of the sin being discussed here.

comment Was Jesus' death legitimate?
well in the end, regardless of whether or not the blood was sprinkled God's word seems to be pretty clear that God accepted Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins, it's His desire to fulfill his word and save us so I'm sure he worked it out somehow. ;)

comment Would it have been possible for Jesus to sin?
This is starting to sound like a "Could God nuke a burrito so hot he couldn't touch it?" conversation. :)

comment Would it have been possible for Jesus to sin?
I agree, it had to be a possibility or he would not have experienced temptation the way that we do and therefore would not be the perfect High Priest.
