comment Is there a non-Catholic view of purification of the spirit after physical death?
@FMS, of course, i am presenting the Protestant view. The "snatching/pulled out from fire..." is an allusion that is related to 1 Cor. 3:15. The Syriac MSS is one of the oldest ancient versions and it reads " saved like out from fire" in the last phrase of 1 Cor. 3:15.

FMS, Well, if that's the case then it means that 1 Corinthians 3:15 is about Hell not purgatory according to the Catholic Perspective.

comment Are Israel and the Church two different kingdoms?
@gideonmarxI am asking this question because a Catholic friend of mine insists that there is one kingdom which is the church and that means that Israel was replaced by the church. There is no more the nation Israel but only the church. God is done with Israel since the inception of the church. I want to know the view of Protestants regarding this.

comment What does the phrase “ saved as by fire” in 1 Corinthians 3:15 mean?
The point is that there is no literal fire to purify a person.A Christian has been "purified by faith" ( Acts 7:9) .

The text nowhere says that the person undergoes purifying fire. We need to interpret the text in its context.

Your answer is what I am looking for. It is a true exegesis indeed. In fact, the Syriac version supports the Evangelical stance, " saved like one [ snatching them] out from fire." This also coheres with Jude 1:23.
