Is it hypocritical to be a Christian and also be against welfare? @Giorgio Stealing isn't illegal because it's immoral, it's illegal because you're violating somebody else's rights. There's a very important distinction between legislation that enforces a moral value and legislation that protects a right. Something like stealing is both a moral decision and a violation of another's rights; but the legislation is only in place to protect against the latter. The key point to take away is that free will is what gives a moral decision its value. By legislating away the decision, you are essentially making it meaningless. |
