"You are drawing unfounded conclusions." Be specific. "you are taking this discussion off topic" Not in the slightest. We're still discussing your absurd claim that God never changes. "If you want to know why I/Christians believe the Bible is true" That's no mystery. If you were born in India, you'd believe in Ganesha for the exactly same reasons.

(1) You believe the Bible is true because the Bible says it's true? *facepalm* (2) We're in a Christian forum, which is why we're discussion Christianity. That doesn't magically make bronze age texts reasonable proof for any claim. (3) Even if we allow that the Bible is true, it still doesn't support your claim.

"since it depends on the existence of time, which did not exist prior to the creation of the universe" How do you know what exited prior to the creation of the Universe? Hint: wild guesses and/or bronze age texts don't count.

comment Respectful ways to explain my non-belief to Christians
@"I could not answer what kind of evidence for a god's existence I would accept" Imagine we map out the stars of the Universe, then some engineer futzing around at the keyboard discovers that from the right angle, the galaxies spell out -- in perfect ancient Hebrew -- "I am the Lord, thy God. I created all this for you." And from that angle, all the other galactic clusters form arrows pointing to Earth. That would be a ringer, no? The bottom line is that evidence for God would have to be some phenomena that could only be explained by the existence of a God.

How is rejecting evidence as illusion or faked... taking it personally? That's par for the course with theist "evidence". For instance, there are roaming "god men" in India who regularly perform miracles. The recently passed Sai Baba was exalted by millions as a living god. I don't have to take it as a personal affront to reject this evidence of supernatural power as illusion or faked. It's just critical thinking. Any competent magician can perform the same "miracles".

@Paulo: that doesn't change my point. Neither of the categories you just mentioned would take it personally if you challenged their beliefs, and both of them can be swayed by evidence. I think the fact that theists cannot be swayed by evidence (if you disagree, ask any theist would evidence would make them stop believing in God) is the reason they get so upset if you challenge their beliefs. Without evidence, religions must methods other than reason to coerce belief -- fear, guilt, appealing to emotion. The beliefs become emotionally charged because of the very way they are created.

All action requires change. You change your position, your thoughts, something. Please give an example of an action that doesn't require change.

"every thing, every action (or reaction), every event in the universe has a cause" The premise invalidates the conclusion. To exempt God from the very premise you used to establish him is special pleading.

He changes constantly in the Bible, starting with his change of eternal dormancy to his Universe building and monitoring phase.

@Lie: untrue. Attacking my non-belief in gods would be like attacking my non-belief in unicorns. Why would I take it personally? I have no vested interest in non-belief; I just see nothing to warrant belief. Ask any atheist or theist: what would it take to make you change your mind? Atheists can tell you. Theists cannot. The atheist would just need evidence. The theist would need... what? Lack of evidence? They already have that, and still believe; it's required by their indoctrination. They are trained that one has to believe, period, to gain reward and avoid unspeakable punishment.
