Why does laying hands don't work on a non-believer I believe that the downvotes on this question are because you asked the exact same question just the other day. as indicated by the mark of duplication. As for why they downvoted your other question. I don't know I haven't looked at it. |

Are the early followers of Christ considered Christians or Jews in today's context? If not, when was the religion created? @BruceAlderman I thought about removing the second part altogether but it did receive an answer from AffGreek so I wasn't sure what to do cause I didn't want to make the effort he expended worth nothing. I agree with you though about this not being the place for that. |

What is the origin and basis for the Catholic teaching regarding Mary's vow of celibacy prior to her betrothal? @PeterTurner Obviously, this is a historical angle, I'm not trying to attack your beliefs. Sorry if my posts came across in such a manner. |

What is the origin and basis for the Catholic teaching regarding Mary's vow of celibacy prior to her betrothal? @PeterTurner also if you study Jewish wedding tradition for that time period. You would know that there was no marriage without consummation. Consummation was what finalized the marriage contract. |

What is the origin and basis for the Catholic teaching regarding Mary's vow of celibacy prior to her betrothal? @PeterTurner what makes you think she didn't consummate her marriage, before her husband died? |

What is the origin and basis for the Catholic teaching regarding Mary's vow of celibacy prior to her betrothal? @PeterTurner I don't know, I've never heard of Anna... As for your answer. Tradition is tradition yes, but I said Jewish tradition. I have been looking around the historical records, outside of Catholic tradition, I can't find any evidence of the Jews practicing vows of virginity. And whatever you want to think Mary was a Jew, not a Christian. And was raised in Jewish tradition. |

What is the origin and basis for the Catholic teaching regarding Mary's vow of celibacy prior to her betrothal? I would like to know this as well. Since there is ZERO precedent for this in the scriptures. Or in Jewish tradition. |

When did Mary and Joseph learn that they were never supposed to have marital relations, according to Roman Catholic doctrine? I removed the downvote. I personally don't know anything about the belief (I don't believe Mary remained a virgin) but it's always important when an answer isn't documented and is based on speculation that it says so. That way there is less room for misunderstanding, and assumptions of fact. |

When did Mary and Joseph learn that they were never supposed to have marital relations, according to Roman Catholic doctrine? Well the Dogma for the perpetual virginity of Mary has documentation. It's not so much looking for a record of God telling Mary don't have sex, but where in the Catholic record this is laid out. Because there is no record of God saying that. Just as there is no record to support the perpetual virginity of Mary. It comes from the Catholic Catechisms. |

What is the basis for the belief among some LDS/Mormons that children in their pre-mortal existence choose who their parents will be? @Narnian Mason is correct, it is taught throughout the LDS Church that there is no "one and only" and has been iterated on by multiple General Authorities. He is also correct about the ....usefulness of Saturday's Warrior. Though with many of the things it depicts, especially the pre-mortal life and missionary work I wouldn't even be as charitable as he was... |

What is temptation? @svidgen I can look, but I don't know how hard it will be to find official statements that deal with questions like 'is any part of Christ's nature sinful'. |

What does the LDS Church teach about Jesus being married, having children, and His position on polygamy? As it stands the title to this question is misleading. As you can see from the answers, this was never an official teaching so implying that it was and asking if it still is a teaching, could very well give false impressions. |

What would happen to somebody voting in opposition to a proposition at LDS General Conference? @Caleb their dissent was against one particular president of the church. I don't know their status this day (the group was around in the late 70's I believe). Since it was with one particular man, I would assume they stayed with the church when he died, but again that's just speculation. I can do some digging when not at work, to try and nail down what happened to them. |

How do LDS know that Brigham Young and his successors are true prophets? You have 4 or 5 questions here. Some of them are asking the same thing, but some would be appropriate for their own post. Please consider editing to be more concise, and where necessary posting a new question. |
