What is “heresy”? @Jas 3.1 A Catholic would believe that a papal pronouncement on a matter or faith or morals is guided by the Holy Spirit and never changes. |

How many kinds of Catholics are there? In the past when someone came up with a new doctrine, they were excommunicated and / or condemned as heretics, like John Wycliffe for example. |

Is breaking copyright law a sin? I've always thought if you have to ask if something is stealing, you already know the answer is yes. |

Mental Illness vs. Demon Possession @Marc Gravell You assert that Astaroth was a well known name in the 1800s. That's a presumption about the commonality of a unusual word in France 200 years ago. If you don't know the frequency of the word, how can you defend conjecture about coincidence? Is it a 10 to 1 chance? Or a million to 1? Actually I think there is a Google word frequency tool that might be useful in this case. |

Mental Illness vs. Demon Possession @Marc Gravell I'm not trying to convince atheists of anything, since no amount of evidence would ever suffice. If I was I'd hang out on skeptics. |

What happens to unborn, unbaptized babies who die? There is nothing more official than the Papal decree from the council of Florence. |

What happens to unborn, unbaptized babies who die? Because it meets the requirements for infallibility defined in Vatican I. |

How to know when to be skeptical of a particular Bible commentary Not everything in this book is orthodox, but I find it quite extensive. amazon.com/Jerome-Biblical-Commentary-paperback-reprint/dp/… |

Is it possible for a human to stop sinning? (Is X a sinner?) @cwallenpoole Do you mean perfect contrition? |

Is it possible for a human to stop sinning? (Is X a sinner?) Are you quizzing me? Being conceived without sin is not an option for the OP, so I didn't include it. Why don't you add it as an answer. |

Does Christianity allow Christians to celebrate other holidays? @wax eagle Like how Catholics are supposed to listen to what the Pope says? Isn't that implied? What exactly is missing? The question was about holidays and the Pope is weighing in on religious celebrations. How is that not related. I have no idea what you want. |

Respectful ways to explain my non-belief to Christians >>How can I explain why I think the way I do? What are you explaining? Christians are familiar with the Big Bang and Evolution. I'm guessing you're not deviating from the standard textbooks, so it feels like you're leaving something out. |
