What is the Biblical basis for 'term eldership'? I agree that the service of being an elder should be taken seriously, but I'm not sure that rotation is necessarily detrimental to that. In my tradition (Baptist) some churches have paid pastors as their only elders and others have unpaid lay elders in addition to their paid pastors. Asking a layman to commit to serving as an elder for the rest of their life while earning a living at a full time job is asking a lot (unless the responsibilities are light and then it not a very serious service). I'm in favor of rotation for lay elders to give them a break. |

Christian Position on the meaning of Faith @Eric Do you think there's room for a question seeking a concise explanation of what Christian faith is? I agree this question as stated is asking for more of a book than a simple answer. I admit my answer does not cover all aspects of the question, but the question as stated forced me to put a lot of thought into my answer. I'm not sure that a more focused question could have led me to the answer that I gave below. |

Christian Position on the meaning of Faith It sounds like this is just asking for a more in depth answer to What is Faith. Or am I missing something and you are after something different? |

How literally do you take and universally apply what Jesus said? Maybe instead of "how literal is the story" you should rephrase it along the lines of "how universal is the application". |

How would they know if Timothy was circumcised or not? @ashansky The research and references for confirming the research make for a much higher quality answer. The formatting is nice, but anyone can edit that in. |

Why did the Pharisees need Judas to betray Jesus? +1 for pointing that the chief priests and scribes did not want to arrest him publicly when he was easy to locate and identify. |
