From professional point of view, I'm an eternal student - I have already finished a master in Archaeology and now I study bachelor degree GIS - the computer part of everything needed to be an expert on Computer Aplications in Archaeology.
From spiritual point of view, I'm a young child in Christ (converted on Easter 2010, baptised a year later), a pilgrim to Santiago de Compostela (I have been there once and I hope it wasn't the last time), a Catholic and a member of Light-Life Movement.
And about hobbies, I'm a RPG enthusiast and I like hiking and everything I've already mentioned.
Here on SE, I've found a nice place to talk about Christianity, a source of information for my current school and I hope I'll be able to share information about my first field of study too. As a Czech patriot, I also hope my language will find its place here.

Is Latin considered a more holy language in the Catholic church? @Greg: Catholics are expected to understand few phrases the can't avoid anyway; further understanding of Latin is good while attending old, Latin liturgy, but understanding every single word is not the point of the old form of Holy Mass (however, the Bible readings and sermon should be in vernacular even in this form of Mass). The beauty and traditionalism are the biggest reasons why some prefer Latin to vernacular language. Plus, there are language-independent parts of the Holy Mass, especially the Eucharist - that's a good reason for attending Mass in a language I don't understand. |

Why isn't the virgin birth of Jesus mentioned in all of the gospels? Your claim about Isaiah's prophecy is not true - the original Hebrew version has 'almah which can mean both virgin and young woman, but in Septuagint there's virgin. Septuagint was translated by Greek speaking Jews, it's no gentile misunderstanding. There are some objections to your other claims too, but I'd have to research a bit for them and there's no room for a complete list anyway (ask a question about it if you want). Anyway, welcome here! |

How did Thomas Aquinas view grace as opposed to the church fathers? Aquinas discussed grace in Summa Theologica, first part of the second part, question 110 (or a summary here). Along with it, I just started reading a book on the Desert Fathers, and they are quite close to the idea that "grace perfects nature". To answer this question well, I need time to research both Aquinas' and patristic view on grace, and to make sure I understand your question well. I might ask some clarifying questions later. |
