comment Why does Judaism celebrate Sabbath on Saturday and most Christians celebrate Sabbath on Sunday?
I understand what you are saying, and I agree with you for the most part. I think the issue I have is that the concept of the Christian Sabbath, whether or not it is the "actual" Sabbath, is so widely held that your answer seems to address such a minor and unnecessary nuance rather than answer the actual content of the question, which is why Christians have an emphasis on Sunday and Jews on Saturday.

For 7th Day Adventists and Jews, sure. However, most Christians recognize Sunday as being the Sabbath. When Christians began to worship and regard Sunday as Sabbath (not just a day or worship, but a "Sabbath" or day of rest), they often reference Mark 2:27-28 and Luke 6:5 where Jesus says he is "Lord of the Sabbath" after coming under criticism for not honoring it as tradition would have expected.

comment Are there analogues to the Mormon/LDS high school seminary in other Christian denominations?
Mormons would say that they are not a Christian "denomination," just FYI.

comment Why does Judaism celebrate Sabbath on Saturday and most Christians celebrate Sabbath on Sunday?
I would disagree with the "most Christians do not celebrate the Sabbath" comment. The fact that most US and international businesses are not open on Sunday seems to me to be an indicator that the Sabbath is widely held, even though it may not always be specifically referenced or recognized.

comment What is the difference between the doctrines of “Perseverance of the Saints” and “Eternal Security?”
I would disagree on your definition of Perseverance of Saints. The way I was taught it was as a doctrinal belief, not as a period of time.

comment What are halos?
"When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God." Exodus 34:29. Not a halo, but the closest Biblical reference to something similar.

comment Are there any statistics that show how many scientists are Christians or otherwise believe in a personal God?
@Flimzy - Not all Christians would be classified Creationists, especially in the sense that the article is using the term.

Eph 6:12 was what came to mind for me as well. +1

comment What's the importance of Fasting?
If you're really interested, I'd recommend picking up a copy of Richard Foster's Celebration of Discipline. It's an incredible read & one of the best chapters is over fasting. It's been very popular for a while now - you could probably find it at the library, otherwise there are a ton of copies on half.com, amazon, etc.
