comment How many Christians have actually read the whole Bible?
Note: 1. This has only been true for the past 50 years. 2. If you compare all of the passages, you will notice that certain passages may be omitted and some are definitely omitted. Most of the time, however, this is because they are a literal word-for-word repeat of some other passage (I believe the requirements for a deacon only appear once while they appear twice in the New Testament).

comment Is it possible for a human to stop sinning? (Is X a sinner?)
@karategeek6 The dogma is that Christ and his mother were both preserved from original sin. The rest is speculation.

comment What is the origin of the Christmas tree and is it accepted in all Christian traditions?
My understanding is that the pagan holiday was the 23rd, and the "Christmas is a pagan holiday" is a more recent innovation. The ancient church's justification for that date was that they thought the date of Christ's death (March 25, in the year he was supposed to have died) should also be the day celebrating his conception. March 25 + 9 months = Dec. 25.

one unconfessed mortal sin will prevent a person from getting to Heaven This is inaccurate. One unrepentant mortal sin will prevent heaven. It is possible to make a spiritual confession, however, and make it into purgatory.

@Karategeek6 There actually has been some speculation that Joseph was sinless as well, and there are legends that he was assumed. These are not discussed terribly much these days, but it is my understanding that at one time Joseph may have been up for the title "conceived without sin" even if it was only a very minor point.

It is a fascinating question.

Not necessarily. Isn't it quite possible that the modern texts are wrong and that a person 2000 years ago had access to better versions?
