I am a scripting language connoisseur, regular expression aficionado, network geek, general lover of Linux and a frequent contributor to open source software. I transitioned to programming from other work because I was too busy automating my own work environment to actually do the other work. I have a hobby interest in cartography. For more see my personal site. Most importantly, my life is defined by the grace of God given to men through Jesus Christ. It is my ambition that everything I do would reflect His glory and point people towards Him.

comment What is the Biblical argument that homosexual attraction is sinful by itself?
Please remove the non-answer meta content from the top of this post. If the question is clear enough to answer in its current form, then answer it. If not then don't answer and VTC and note what clarifications are necessary. The meta talk about the question (and especially other posts) does not belong in answers.

comment How have Christian theologians historically reconciled the idea of creation ex-nihlo with the creation account?
I would suggest this question is running into trouble because you are asking from a very specific position that you've staked out in your mind but not articulated as part of the question scope. You've made certain pre-suppositions and then jumped into the issue three steps in asking for how other views "reconcile" an issue that is not even a problem for their views, it's only a problem is the first place based on your set of pre-suppositions. I suggest backing up a couple steps and just asking how the 2nd Peter verse fits into whatever theological framework you are interested in.

Comments are not for extended discussion; the conversation about "cults" has been moved to chat. Lets keep the comment section focused on requests or suggestions for clarifications on the post. Debating the issue (and side issues) is not what the comment feature is here for.

comment Why did Daniel feel the need to pray towards Jerusalem, even at the cost of his own life?
This question seems to be based on an unsubstantiated (and I believe, bogus) assumption that the direction of the prayer had anything to do with this other than good story-telling. I don't see a shred of evidence in the text that the direction mattered.

comment Why does Paul say that a husband is “divided” between his wife and God?
If you are interested in a real analysis of the original text a little bit of editing could make this a good candidate for migrating to Biblical Hermeneutics. Otherwise it will need to be adjusted for what theological tradition you would like to address this question towards.

comment What issues do Catholics representing God in fiction historically face?
@fredsbend CS Lewis strongly identified with the Church of England/Anglicanism not Catholicism (somewhat to the disappointment of Tolkien, who was Roman Catholic). Likely many of the same issues in dealing with religiously grounded fiction would be similar, but the way his own church would have related to him and his works would have been a bit different.

comment When, how and why did Mary start to be called “Queen of heaven”?
@DMS It doesn't ask for Catholic sources at all. I don't see why Catholicism's silence on the matter would aspect whether this is on topic for the site or not when the question isn't addressed specifically at Catholics.

@FMS This is a history question not a Catholicism question. Catholic sources are certainly relevant but if the officially sanctioned line given by the Catholic church differs for any reason from other historical sources that would be a relevant and appropriate thing to note in answering this question. Note the church-history tag and absence of a catholicism tag.
