I am a scripting language connoisseur, regular expression aficionado, network geek, general lover of Linux and a frequent contributor to open source software. I transitioned to programming from other work because I was too busy automating my own work environment to actually do the other work. I have a hobby interest in cartography. For more see my personal site. Most importantly, my life is defined by the grace of God given to men through Jesus Christ. It is my ambition that everything I do would reflect His glory and point people towards Him.

comment Questions about Lent
Most of these look like fair questions, but I think at least the last one should be split out into a separate question.

comment What does it mean to “Believe in Jesus”
For the purposes of this site, "Christianity" as a whole is too broad a scope. Since this is a public space with no doctrinal oversight, groups that use the label Christian but have different definitions for what that means are all on topic. Yet Protestants, Mormons, Catholics, Seventh Day Adventists, etc. will all have very different answers to questions like this one. Sorting out which is ultimately correct is beyond the scope of questions here. Would you perhaps like to edit to focus your question on the beliefs of a specific group that might be answerable in this context?

comment Which is the 'correct' bible for Catholics?
This looks good on the surface, but even as a non-Catholic I think I can see a massive oversight. How could you not even mention the Jerusalem Bible / New Jerusalem Bible that is the most widely used Catholic sanctioned Bible translation out there? I'm pretty sure there are other technical inaccuracies here too.

comment Why are bibles sold for profit?
This Christian Commons (free ebook) gives some history and background on how Bible publishing got to be the way it is and outlines what some of us think should be done about it. I highly recommend the read for anyone thinking about this issue.

comment What scientific arguments are there to support Young Earth Creationism?
This has quite a number of logical fallacies, not the least of which is summarily dismissing other views when there is not a precedent to do so. It is useless to state, "None are accepted by scientists outside the movement." when by your definition anyone who did agree would be by definition 'inside' the movement. Making disconnected sweeping generalizations on contentious issues does not help sort things out.

comment Did Protestants consider transubstantiation to be idol worship?
Your "lead up" read like a soap box rather that a question and I'm pretty sure that was the main problem with the question. The bit you added is fine on it's own, so I edited that to be the main question.

comment What is the reason and meaning of the symbols on the garments worn by Temple-worthy LDS members?
@MasonWheeler I'm going to have to disagree with your assessment of "off-topic". Reticence on the part of answers to provide sources does not inherently make something off topic. A good question may garner no good answers if it actually comes to that. In the mean time if there is anything offensive in the way this is asked by all means lets fix it.

This needs some sources. This might even be correct, but without any sources you might as well be rambling about the Bermuda triangle.

comment What is the basis of the LDS/Mormon prohibition of facial hair for men?
Please flesh this out into a direct answer to the question. You may use your article for reference and direct people to it for further reading, but the answer here will need to fully answer the question in-situ or it will be removed.

comment Would it have been possible for Jesus to sin?
What @Cohen_the_Librarian said ... you know better than this. Technically this question isn't scoped to anything but identifying who you are representing and having at least one source outside of yourself is a requirement you have been apprised of many times.
