On what basis do Christians sometimes claim to know what God's intentions are? Another example would be "God unleashed that tornado/tsunami/earthquake/volcanic erruption on that city as a punishment for homosexuality" |

Why is rape not in the 10 commandments? Adultery: "Voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a person who is not his or her spouse." Since rape is involuntary and not necessarily commited by a married person, I wouldn't say it's adultery. |

What were the beliefs, teachings, and practices of the church regarding slavery in the New World? The article you refer to cleverly fails to mention a lot of the dates, events and Papal bulls mentioned in the Wikipedia article. Your article also lacks references. The Wikipedia article contains a lot of articles. As to the definition of slavery... When my snippets from Wikipedia mention "permission to invade, search out, capture and subjugate the Saracens and pagans and any other unbelievers and enemies of Christ...to reduce their persons into perpetual slavery" and Papal bulls, I thinks it's pretty clear what is meant with slavery and Church. |

How do we know the events described in the bible are true? @Richard - There's a difference between having 9 first hand witnesses and reading their written down stories that have been translated and interpreted numerous times 2000 years after the facts. |
