comment Was Jesus' death legitimate?
@hammar That's true, but he did garner some supporters, including the late Ekrem Akurgal, known for his research on the Hittite empire.

comment Are there any documented instances of anyone moving a mountain in faith?
@TRiG haha made me laugh. You have a point though. In retrospect, maybe my answer should have included the Marco Polo reference only. Granted, it's not a NY Times article, but it is "documentation", which is what was requested.

comment Is Jesus lying in John 7?
+1 for clarifying verb tense. But a question: if as you say 'that sense is indeed intended by the author' (the sense of not yet), why not just say, 'not yet'? 'Not' and 'not yet' may have been equivalent in Greek, and the intended sense clear, but not so in English.

This book (In Awe of Thy Word) is a 1200 page read on why the KJV is the best translation available. It's a huge book, but you can pick it up anywhere and be amazed by how the KJV was translated (seriously). amazon.com/Awe-Thy-Word-Understanding-Mystery/dp/0963584529

ISA 2 Basic from scripture4all.org. I saw someone else on this site using it (I would give them credit if I could recall who) and decided to check it out. It's free, and works very well.

comment Why is “elohim” translated as “God” and not “gods”?
Elohim contains a Yud-Mem, making it seem plural to us, but so do Hebrew words like sky and ocean. See Rabbi Tovia Singer's explanation of the "plurality" of Elohim: youtube.com/watch?v=MhVD1DKaIbY

comment Does the Trinity share one mind or are there three separate minds?
+1 Excellent question. Possible followups - if three separate minds, then how can they be "one"? If one mind, then three separate personalities? Is a personality equivalent to a mind?

comment What evidence exists for post-Biblical miracles?
To be fair, I myself am a little (lot) skeptical of the Mother Teresa "miracle".

Ah... in other words, this could have been a "trick" to gain political support? He was a fake cripple for 66 years and then pulled a fast one to get in the newspapers? Even in the 1950's healing was lumped into the quackpot category - probably wouldn't have been my #1 suggestion to get in the papers. But I understand your skepticism!

Luke 16:31: "If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead."

@JustinY - not sure I follow. "God's angels", aren't "lost" are they?

@jimreed not dense at all. Thanks for the question - I've added a section to my answer comparing a couple of teachings on the triune nature of man that clarifies my understanding.

+1 nice and succinct. Wish I could upvote more than once.

comment Are Christians bound to the laws of their country?
+1 Another great example of obeying God over government is in Daniel Chapter 1, when Daniel asked to be given vegetables and water to eat, so that Daniel and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego wouldn't have to eat from the King's table (which was not Kosher).
