comment Atheism is the default position. Isn't the burden of proof on the Christian to assert that God exists?
@Caleb: faith is trust beyond proof (or despite proof). This is what Christians say all the time ("God does not show Himself because it would take away free choice"). So saying you have faith in a rope which is guaranteed not to break is incorrect.

comment Is God's name Yahweh or Jehovah?
the vocalisation depends on whom you ask, no? If you are interested in the "correct", i.e. original, vocalisation then you should not ask here, but on judaism.stackexchange.com

comment Is God's name Yahweh or Jehovah?
Which one do you prefer? YHWH is a human name given to God, so it's clearly not His real name. It's quite presumptuous to think otherwise.

comment If God controls our decisions, does this mean we don't have free will?
Or He could be manipulating us all the time! Would we know better?

This is hiding behind a finger. When is my next action decided and by whom? If God knows before me my next action, then choice is an illusion.

comment Is Christianity a monotheistic religion?
@James, the creation argument doesn't hold water. Most polytheistic religions have a single creator, but a pantheon of gods ("superhuman") figures.

comment Where does the belief that the Earth is relatively young (6000 years) come from?
@roland: just because somebody disagrees with evolution, it doesn't make it any less fact. people who disbelieve it, do so because of faith (i.e. they believe in something even in the face of contrary evidence). Regarding "picking the nits": presenting opinions in the form of facts does not make this site better; furthermore the largest majority of Christians do not have any problem with evolution. Nobody wants this site to be "creationism.SE".

Lucifer is an angel, is he perfect as well?

comment How does the Bible explain the existence of fossils that are millions of years old?
They were quite likely known, as they are very commonly found in marble. The main point is, IMHO, why should the bible be concerned with fossils? Or any other scientific endeavour?
