comment What are the consequences of suicide according to the Roman Catholic church?
@JohnPeyton I would say that it couldn't necessarily be a mortal sin. But, as a venial sin, while it still is a sin, it is something that would be covered by purgatory and not prevent you from ultimately entering into God's presence.

comment Why has God punished every human for one person's sin?
@Jonathan. Not quite. God has done everything short of forcing us against our own free will to bring us to Him. He even came to us in the flesh. He instituted the Church. God wants to protect us. But, like a child who refuses its mother's embrace and runs away, so can we. God has done everything He should. All that's left is for us to respond and accept it. That is a basic tenet of Christianity.

comment What are the biblical arguments against the papacy and papal succession?
Is this widely held? Because it seems plain to me that the rock is Peter, given the name Peter comes from the Greek word Petra which means "rock", and Jesus was using a bit of a play on words there.

comment If one divorces is it considered adultery to marry again no matter what the circumstances were for this decision?
@newwings Although, doctrine typically should be derived from interpretations of Scripture. There may be different doctrines, but they derive from different interpretations of Scripture. And I understand that it is rare for different translations of the Bible to select different doctrines.

comment Is it a sin to do “works” for the sake of “rewards” in heaven?
@Pacerier The incorrect assumption is that if you do good works, you will be rewarded. It is not, in fact, simply the works that will get you the rewards. If you do not have your heart in the right place, no work will get you any reward in heaven.

comment Is the stigmata biblically sound?
I'd say it answers the question quite well, and succinctly, as it directly addresses whether it is Biblical or not.

comment How should Christians participate in a democracy?
Absolutely agree. Though I would emphasize that we should be sure that we are not neglecting evangelization of the spirit by evangelizing the laws.
