comment Why do Jehovah's Witnesses exclude pagan influences from their doctrine?
That's like asking why a mouse would exclude a cat.

comment Does my monk go to heaven?
@David - you motivated me to add on a bit more. I think I cover some new ground now in the final paragraph.

comment Is Christianity functionally polytheistic?
This question is off topic. It's a question about philosophy, rather than a question really about christianity.

comment Who determines church dedications?
I still own a house up there, but since they GM plant closed I owe way more than it's worth now. Okay, I'll stop comment-spamming the question now ;)

@Peter - ha, my last residence was in Evansville WI. Small world. I had customers in Footville.

comment Biblical basis for baptism as a prerequisite for salvation
Scarcity? Baptism is mentioned more than 80 times in the new testament.

comment What is the Lutheran doctrine of “Law and Gospel”?
"I'm having a hard time understanding the distinction" -- I think that is the point of Luther's quote: it's not easy.

comment Do any Christian traditions intentionally use the name 'Yahweh'?
In other words, many consider using "Yahweh" is less honorable to name, rather than more.

comment Why do women have inferior rights in the Bible?
It's also worth noting that all of this is way ahead of it's time. Other cultures in the area treated women as little better than property. To give women so much influence was revolutionary for the time.

comment Why do Christians need to promote their religion to non-believers?
@Marc You're stretching. Hitting closer to home, surely you as a programmer have seen a colleague about to use a technique that is widely used, but you consider harmful. Even if you'll never have to maintain that code or use the product, if you had the opportunity you would want to correct the developer.

comment Why do Christians need to promote their religion to non-believers?
@Marc - the question is asking about a Christian's motives, so it's perfectly fair to evaluate it from the Christian's point of view.

comment How is it that someone who lived thousands of years ago can “represent” me?
I think the phrase "because all sinned" undermines this passage as a proof text for original sin. It suggests that individuals also sinned separately, and that is the reason for their depravity, rather than a connection to Adam's sin, and the punishment we all bear for the original sin is mere earthly mortality.

comment What is the justification for relying on faith healing over conventional medicine?
Of course it's not silent. I didn't say it was. I do disagree with your implication: mentioning something does not imply a commentary on it or approve it. That said, I also don't claim to agree with the interpretation used here. I was just explaining where it comes from.

comment Under what conditions does the Bible support divorce?
A better interpretation of the first passage is that the reason divorce does not cause a person to commit adultery in cases of immorality is that the adultery has already occurred. It's not permission, but an acknowledgement of what is already there.

comment Are Dinosaurs mentioned in the Bible?
I, for once, am with Sven on this one. Behemoth is also said to be small enough to sit beneath a lotus tree, and I can't find the link now, but another translation or commentary indicates the behemoth was a creature that could also be milked.

I think the answer to the title question is, "Yes."

comment How is Christ's death so significant?
It's important yet, but Lazarus was also resurrected, and I hope that you and I both are someday as well. It proves divinity, but does not by itself prove divinity of Jesus. There is more going on here.

comment In which year was Christ born?
I added a further sentence (with footnote pointer) to the quotation so you can see how the source is used.
