comment Water Baptism - Is it still necessary?
@Matt That view would hold more weight if we didn't have all the examples both in Acts and extra-biblical early-christian histories of physical water baptisms. You also admit that water is commanded, but it's the spiritual baptism that matters. This view would have more credibility if it weren't so often implemented with a complete negligence of the commandment to also baptise in water.

comment What is the biblical basis for the prohibition of instruments in worship?
@IanRingrose It would not. Sometimes silence can be restrictive, and sometimes it can be permissive. The link in this answer includes an example that demonstrates each. For scripture, it is important that you have a good hermeneutic that instructs you how to handle silence, or you can use silence to twist scripture to permit or forbid almost anything. And again: this is the weakest of the reasons for using a cappella music during a worship service.

comment What is the biblical basis for the claim that abortion is immoral?
So you're saying two different DNA profiles is not at least an incredibly strong scientific indication of two different individuals?

comment Why is the Lord's Prayer different in the NIV and KJV?
I would add that at the time of KJV, there were fewer if any old texts that lacked the phrase, but more recent discoveries give a stronger case to the newer translation. Put another way: both groups did they best they could with the manuscripts available at the time.

@muistooshort Also genetic clones, and other issues that can mix dna up. But those are exceptionally rare events. In a legal context, unless you can prove otherwise, different dna == different person.

comment When/why did the [N]RSV become a “Catholic” Bible instead of a “Protestant” Bible?
I think the inclusion of the Deuterocanon at all probably has a lot to do with it. A protestant would be surprised to see this in his bible. A Catholoic would expect it. So imagine you are a book seller, and you find a bible that includes it. Where would you stock it?

If the war were over today, Zion is where the party would be.
