Jesus witnessed whilst here that it was near impossible to sin and promised that when he died and returned to the kingDom of God that He would ask for a 'helper' to be sent to assist us in living purer lives. This is the holy spirit and it is not possible to avoid sin without the Holy Spirit as there would then be no need for it.

I would of loved to have provide an answer, but I'll provide it as a comment. The ten commandments date BC Jesus was the son of God in human form who came to die and be resurrected again. The death covers our sin and replaces the old covenants where the blood of a a lamb atoned for sin. Thus Jesus is the lamb of God.
