I'm a programmer by day and a genealogist by night, but mostly I'm a husband and father. I'm also a Mormon.

comment According to Reformed Christianity, what is the meaning of “grace” (χάρις)?
@Zealumble Don't worry, we all have fallen into the same trap. Your question could easily be reopened if you edited it to specify a denomination. I suggest reading en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grace_(Christianity) to get started.

Perhaps it helps you more than it helps them.

comment What is the purpose of baptism for sola fide adherents?
Excellent answer. I edited my question to ask if baptism is necessary. Could address that also?

comment What is the difference between justification and sanctification?
Excellent delineation, but I worry that it may be too simple. This answer to another question suggests that sanctification has two meanings.

comment How does intercession of saints and Exodus 20:3 not clash?
@PeterTurner: There's nothing in the Bible that says we should interpret Christ's petition to John as applicable to us (and I admit there's nothing that says we shouldn't). Anything regarding this is pure speculation.

comment How are Catholic priests chosen and assigned to specific parishes?
I had no idea that the Roman Catholic Church performed any sacraments with the laying on of hands. Is ordination the only time it is used? That's what the wiki article seems to imply, but doesn't specifically state.

comment When did knowledge of Christ's sacrifice become necessary for salvation?
@Flimzy: Why would Christ say that Abraham was excited to see His day if Abraham didn't know about the sacrifice He was going to offer? That would mean Christ is saying that Abraham was excited to see Christ conquer the nations militarily, which He clearly didn't do and Christ knew He wasn't going to do that.

comment When did knowledge of Christ's sacrifice become necessary for salvation?
I think people are struggling with your question because of a false, hidden premise: that the requirements for salvation changed when Christ died. Knowledge of Christ's sacrifice has always been necessary for salvation. The requirements for salvation have never changed.

comment Is it easy to live a Christian life?
I really like how you make a distinction between our interactions with God and our interactions with the world. I hesitate to accept your answer because being Christian hasn't made my life hard. Perhaps I've been lucky. But I don't doubt that moving to the Middle East would bring on a lot of persecution. I just can't accept a blanket statement if it doesn't apply to me.
