What happens to unborn, unbaptized babies who die? ignore my comment above "when an infant is baptized God creates faith in the heart of that infant".... I know that it is said this is a Lutheran belief based on scriptures, but is there a scripture that says baptism creates belief or that God uses baptism to generate belief? This can be dangerous in that people can believe they are saved because they were baptized. I've seen people get baptized multiple times, but not be saved. Eph 2:8-9 - 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. |

If we are saved by grace, then why does Jesus say we must be baptized in both spirit and water? More clarity in second paragraph |

If we are saved by grace, then why does Jesus say we must be baptized in both spirit and water? @mason Its hard to be clear in short messages. But i guess what i was trying to say: Is it possible for a person who's ultimate destination is hell to be in paradise with Christ. And especially in the context that the thief asked to be remembered when Jesus comes into his kingdom. With the context of kingdom being the kingdom of heaven. The reason that this is important is if the thief is going to heaven after paradise, then the concept still stands. By the way thx 4 the input. |

If we are saved by grace, then why does Jesus say we must be baptized in both spirit and water? I read ur post... but I don't think John 20:17 definitely answers the question about what paradise is. Revelation 2:7 “To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”’ 2 Cor 12 - 2 ...such a one was caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I know such a man—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— 4 how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Paradise may not exactly be heaven... but I still don't think someone going to hell would be in Paradise. |
