I am a Christian. Although I have an abiding interest in science and philosophy, I view things from a distinctly Christian vantage point, which harmonizes human well-being with what we know of the natural world.

Here's a nice quote I came across:

"The spectacle of the universe seems all the more grand and beautiful and worthy of its Author, when one considers that it is all derived from a small number of laws laid down most wisely." -Maupertuis, 1746

comment Sodom and Gomorrah and God's judgement in the Christian age
@khanahk: I don't know where you think good things come from. If you posit that God is the source of all the goodness that ever existed, exists and will exist (as the Bible does), then it seems pretty clear that good fortune can only come from Him.

comment Sodom and Gomorrah and God's judgement in the Christian age
I guess another way to reason it out is to say that not all misfortune that befalls a Christian city or nation is willed by God.

comment Good person going to hell simply for not believing?
Recently, I have begun thinking that basic knowledge of the God of the Bible should be made human knowledge, just like knowledge of science, since I feel it is the bedrock of civilization itself.
