How many years are Bible translations usually called New or Revised for? @Peter: probably the "Einheitsübersetzung". Could it be this one? The original Einheitsübersetzung (Unity Translation) was a collaboration of catholic and protestant theologians, so it's acceptable to Protestants too. |

How many years are Bible translations usually called New or Revised for? @Peter: could be a catholic Bible. There should be a publisher listed in the front pages. Off hand and remotely I cannot identify it (I'm not an expert in Bible versions anyway) |

How many years are Bible translations usually called New or Revised for? @a_harding: This could prove hellishly (well, maybe even literally, who knows) confusing for time-travellers :D |

Does Christianity allow Christians to celebrate other holidays? It should be noted that this is a very Catholic view: "attend Mass" is putting "Church" first, not God (in this mostly-raised-as-catholic-but-now-more-or-less-protestant Christian's view). |

Can Christians be demon possessed? "permanent right"? There is no Right to the Holy Spirit. There are cases where the Spirit was taken away again. Saul, as the most prominent example. But: each and every one of those (I think) is due to the person falling out with God. No such thing to be seen in Acts 10. |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” Oh, do you have any pointers to this literal interpretation of Genesis you mention? I think I'm of that opinion, but I'd love to read a (hopefully) learned treatise on it. |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” Do you want to be loved because that someone loves you, or because that someone doesn't have a choice? Slavery and love don't mix. IOW: I agree. :D |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” Stealing and adultery aren't, I think, quite as absolute as you make them out to be. Murder is a much better example. |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” So, what the KJV translates as evil can also be translated as destruction? Why then use such a misleading translation? If you translate as destruction, God stops doing evil. Interesting, don't you think? |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” "He can use it" Period. What for? I don't know, and I'm not in a position to know. Neither do I care anymore. He can use it. He does. How? Am I God? "To make us perfect"... nope. Sometimes, suffering helps to bring us closer to Him, and that helps us on the road. But directly, no. |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” I'm not afraid of dentists... ;-) But the thing here is: God removing the possible, the ability, to do evil would mean we'd not be free. And, if you look closely, you'll see that (okay, my opinion, but..) freedom and love are the cornerstones of God's design/being. He gave Adam and Eve the choice... we humans would have built a wall around the tree and put razorwire on top. |

Can Christians be demon possessed? Oh please. Semantic games? Verse 45: "was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost." Note verse 46 too. I leave the conclusions to you... |

Can Christians be demon possessed? The Holy Ghost comes before baptism... at least once (Acts 10). So, this disproves your point. |

How could Jesus be surprised? "amazed" is not the same as "surprised". Maybe ask about the difference on english.SE? ;-) |

Why do Protestants allow contraception? All three are completely wrong, which is quite obvious when you read the verses. And which you stated in the paraphraph following. :D |

Why do Protestants allow contraception? Yes, this is... semi-off-topic. Semi because the answer makes it clear (and correctly so) that contraception (at least for (evangelical) Protestants) ties into abortion. |

Why do Protestants allow contraception? I dispute (personally, the church I attend is almost rabidly anti-abortion) this reading of Psalms 139:13. God is an intricate part... well, he's involved. But that's not the point. What matters is: is this already a human being? "You knit me" means, to me, that I was being created. I wasn't done. So... was I already me? From day/hour 0? |

Sex outside of marriage is a sin. But what about “less than sex”? 27-28... why leave out 29? Difficult, this one, isn't it? If not, why do you think it isn't? |
