How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” "making man like God" addendum: that's exactly what the serpent told Eve: "ye shall be as gods". |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” @svid: Logic is something. This is something else. "Whatever God does"... yup. But Jesus experienced suffering, he didn't "do" it (yes, he "did suffer", but that's English, it doesn't mean he actively suffered) As to Baptism: Jesus told us to baptize. He also told us that we needed to be baptized. Where does he tell us we need to suffer? And "making man like God" is heresy. |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” @Ign: I noticed that, I just wasn't in the mood. And I used it to add a bit of sarcasm in the direction of svidgen :P |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” @Ign: sure it would. But that's not my point, my point is that God is about freedom, we humans aren't. Oh, and of course, it would be a blessed suffering (since Jesus blessed it) |

How to answer “Why do evil and suffering exist?” @svid: could you this "whatever Jesus experienced, he blessed" support with some links? Not that I agree with it at all, I'm just curious who says this. |

Should biblical laws apply to non-Christians? "a lot of Christians"? Well, I don't. Since I disagree with a number of "biblical morals". Even evangelicals disagree with some of them. :P |

Is Christianity an experiential practice? Late follow-up, because I only now noticed it (I think): what do you mean when you say "experiencing the Spirit". We all have it, don't we? |

Is there a basis for Christian holidays in the Bible? The question is about christian holidays or rather, holy days. And compared to the jewish feasts, which were explicitly (and in great detail) decreed by God himself, the christian holidays never were. Sure God likes having a great time... but why should I need a man-made/set arbitrary date for it? That's similar to saying that to have fun you have to drink alcohol. |

Will suicide keep me out of Heaven? Caleb, I know he doesn't deny me. And I also know he doesn't want me to see him as my master (see, again John 15:15, what do you make of that?). That means: I obey him/God because I know what he tells me, and what he wants from me is good, not because he's my master (because I'm not a servant anymore). As in John: "because a servant does not know his master's business". We are "in on it" if you will. At least enough not to have to blindly follow (not always, anyway). Yes, this may be original research, I don't have any references. Only the Spirit as my teacher. |

Will suicide keep me out of Heaven? As a Christian, I believe I'm not God's property, but his child. And Jesus is not my master, but my friend. See John 15:15. |

Did all disciples of Christ's apostles consider priesthood a sacrament? @Love: you can't prove a negative. The original assertion mentioned in the question, that could (theoretically) be proven, but in practice (since those writings are largely lost or at least missing) can't. |

How do we identify false teachers? Disagree with "but do not love the world." as God himself does love the world. Or how does your translation render John 3:16? Mine begins "For God so loved the world..." |

What evidence is there to support the position that the Bible is truly the Word of God to mankind? Actually, where does the Bible say it is the word of God (and I mean OT and NT, OT alone doesn't count) |

What evidence is there to support the position that the Bible is truly the Word of God to mankind? "Scripture" is the Bible including NT? How so? Everywhere in the NT, when they say "Scripture", they of course mean (except when explicitly stated otherwise) the OT. |

What are the reasons for calling oneself a “follower of Jesus” rather than a Christian? @cwall: of course, you'd shake your walking stick at dem dere whippersnappers while shouting. ;-) |

Has the name “Jesus” ever been used for naming Jewish children since the Savior's incarnation? Oh, and the answers confirm my view: they all miss the "Jewish community" bit. |

Has the name “Jesus” ever been used for naming Jewish children since the Savior's incarnation? @brilliant: Okay, let me change that "How" into a "Why". Or: why do you think that Christians will (or should) know? You're asking about the Jewish community. Not the Christian community. I know probably quite a bit more about Jewish customs than the average Christian (not talking about people on here, mind you), but why and how should I know anything about current naming customs? Why do you expect anyone else here know that? |
