Can I believe in evolution and still be a Christian? If the science seems to offer some "good results" locally, like electricity or "atomic power",this is not because some smart guys invented something clever in labs, this is because they always try to understand the nature created around them, and all the "working" ideea comes from nature, patented by the Designer. This means that any theory resisted in time, only because it had a "model" in real world:"applicability.Evolution started from false premises, enriched with a language and using some logic connectors. It's a heresy like "inquisition" of catholic "church",with the same results in future |

Can I believe in evolution and still be a Christian? @stoicfury If you want a healthy life go and live in the middle of nature where civilisation doesn't infuse concrete on living vegetation. To understand what is real evolution, you must know what is the purpose of your life, and developed tools are the ones that help you to reach your purpose |

Can I believe in evolution and still be a Christian? @stoicfury We use computers for entertainments only, or to repair what was already destroyed in our life by entertainment made with computers. We have cars or airplanes to cover big distances because our jobs are spread on big areas, but our ancestors had their jobs near their houses. We have cars to spin inside polluted towns, when we travel with airplanes we have sits and we don't see nothing. The apostles traveled really across Asia and Europe, by feet, seeing nature and interacting with people. Medicine doesn't increased length of live, it sustains only this miserable life. |

What is a Christian's justification for a legal prohibition of homosexual marriage? @Hammar I'm new here, and I try to adapt to the requirement. Thank you for the observation. Following the wire of debate, chronologically and by content, can be observed that my comments are substantially different, evolving along the discussion. My first comment was criticized that does't match the subject and doesn't use references. The second comment was to met observations. The third comment comes as a response to the so-claimed question: "why" |

What is a Christian's justification for a legal prohibition of homosexual marriage? @Filmzy you play with words. I will not support homosexuality in any way. I would discourage/punish only as public acts of the society which member I am. And what makes someone in private has God as a witness and it is not my job. It generate tasks for Final Judgement. |

What is a Christian's justification for a legal prohibition of homosexual marriage? @MarcGravell you asked to Christians to PROVE righteousness of Biblical laws using secular arguments before to be applied to a non-Christian population; to depict the consequences of your logic, here is another Biblical law: Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it (Leviticus 18:23); Can you PROVE using secular arguments, that a law for "marriage between a woman and a bull" is not justifiable; Do you tolerate zoophilia, pedophilia? These are prohibited by the Bible |

What is a Christian's justification for a legal prohibition of homosexual marriage? @Marc Son of God, Jesus Christ, came to the humanity as a simple man, poor and almost unknown, He spoke us wise words and parables to understand what is good for us. He could came in all His glory, as almighty God, but He didn't. Why? To not take our individual freedom of choices. Yes, He make miracles as God, always when somebody ask it, but often He ask to the witness to not tell anybody. This is why, some people today believe in Him, and others not. They remained free of Him. So the law, should do the same. To not force choice of anybody. But... |

What is a Christian's justification for a legal prohibition of homosexual marriage? @Marc the examples are for Flimzy's question, "what I would favor?". Don't be confused. If you think this is intolerance, try to understand: in privacy you should be able make everything you want, to take choices to die or to live, but in public nobody should help you to die, everyone should help you to live. The laws regarding community groups should protect life, health, sanity and the laws regarding individuals should preserve freedom of choices. But now in our society the laws protect "the freedom of making profits even if third parties are prejudiced", creating injustice and sufferings. |
