Overview of Content Management Systems

There is definitely a barrier to entry with Magento. Development is not nearly as intuitive as it is with a system like WordPress. Drupal is as confused as the people who built it, constantly changing the entire thing each release. They probably change their core more often then I change my underwear.

WordPress

Out of all of the systems I do have to admit that each has it's benefits. WordPress theming is crazy simple and the freedom that plugin developers are given can leave you confused without a purpose or direction. You can hack the core of WordPress as easy as you can write a post in the administrative area. The graphic artists that tend to design for a system like this love open spaces and large poster images. It's a very welcoming system and great for blogging.

Magento

Magento is like a King, everything must be in exact order and speak only when spoken to. You must request permission to edit the core, while attempts to override only end in conflicts. The platform is run like a legion of soldiers, each with a specific task and carries it out in sync with everything else. The platform is guaranteed to give you a stable and reliable ecommerce website, which is probably why it makes up 40% of the ecommerce stores online. The fact that Magento is a legion is also the reason why it is as slow as one.

Drupal

Drupal is like a band of hippies that have great ideas but no leadership to organize the protesters. The core code is being changed so often that the extensions directory is more like an archive of dead code. Do not upgrade if things are working! If you can get them working...

Joomla

Joomla is fantastic, but still seems to be missing a clear purpose. It is a Jack of all trades and a master of none. If you want to build something custom, then build it on Joomla if another system doesn't already specialize in the idea. Joomla is a favorite, highly respected, but rarely used.

Who Am I?

My name is Jonathon Byrd, I'm a Software Engineer turned Marketer, Consultant and Magento Enthusiast, because that's the only community that makes money :)

I'm a guest blogger at the Magento Support Center and run my own website for Ecommerce Consulting.

comment Under what conditions does the Bible support divorce?
We have to take everything into account about divorce. Keep in mind that God Himself wrote Israel a certificate of divorce, because Israel was being unfaithful to Him. God does not prefer divorce, however, marriage is not a prison either.

comment Are we born sinners?
Christ was born a man in order that he live a perfect sinful life and therefore be the perfect sacrifice for all men, that we may live through his righteousness. Sin has everything to do with Obedience to God. He was born of a Virgin as evidence of his Deity.

comment Was Jesus Plan B?
The scripture you've provided does not secure one idea over the other. I'm going to give a down vote for failure to cite scripture. If you want me to remove the down vote, please revise.

Give us some evidence. This question is arbitrary.

comment Has the Bible ever lied?
I guess the core of the question would be me wondering if there is anything that the bible clearly states as one truth, but we have verifiable evidence of the contrary. I wouldn't be interested in evolution or age of the earth or cr@p like that.

comment How could Jacob wrestle with God if no one can see God and live?
The point being that Jesus, being immortal could have easily visited the earth to wrestle with Jacob, talk with Moses and have dinner with Abraham.

There's nothing to suggest that Jesus could not have given Himself a body without having to have been born. There are many suggestions of angels walking this earth. There is also Abraham who fed God and two others dinner. This was also the night that God told Abraham that He would give him many descendants.

comment Who saved people before ~33AD?
I'm a software engineer that hobbies in semantics and philosophy in my spare time. I not only put logic and valid inference into practice on a daily basis, but I also study the process of logic. My faith is also not blind as my faith is secured by many, many things that testify of God. I worship a God that is a righteous judge who judges wicked men, through floods, war and many other forms of destruction. A form of perfect justice that you know nothing about. I know that there is a lesson to be learnt from the story of Abraham and I know that God would not ask that of me.

There's a lot of things that you don't understand @Atheist. Like the fact that God knew Isaac would not be killed and the fact that God does not desire the sacrifice of children or humans. This was a test to see if Abraham loved God enough to obey even if it cost him his son. You have no idea what God is about and you have no desire to know either. If you begin to try and understand maybe some truth will be revealed to you, but if you continue to judge without understanding then your ignorance will continue to be unwelcome here.

I guess that I missed what luther was saying, lol. Trust God and not something else.

comment What is the essence of sin?
I think that you missed what luther was saying. The first commandment is to Love God with everything that you are. Jesus said that all of the law and all of the prophets were based off of this and the second commandment. He also said that to love is to fulfill the commandments. Luther was repeating this by saying that when you sin, you go against the law of love and you break the first commandment. This is because God equates your love to your obedience. Has nothing to do with idols.

It's one thing to throw out your opinion and assert that God does not condone something. It's another to try and understand why God would even remotely gesture at such an action. -1

comment How do Christians reconcile archeology with the Bible in the account of the Battle of Jericho?
Considering that dating is never 100% accurate and the city could have been plundered. I wouldn't see this "science" as discrediting anything.

comment Under what circumstances does God act on His anger?
@JamesBlack The old testament is there to teach us about God. The country of Israel is each of us as an individual today. We obey and disobey continually as did Israel. God is never changing, the Old Testament God is the God of the New Testament. Justify yourself as you see fit, but God will judge you as He sees fit.

So even tho we are mocking the cross by sinning we are still saved? I think I just read that in your comments...

in hebrews 10:26-27 it says that if we continue to sin we trample the precious blood of Jesus. Meaning that if we believe in Jesus through faith, but continue to sin we will still go to hell. This scripture doesn't fit your theology. In 1 John it says that if we do not obey the commands of God then the Truth is not in us. how do you reconcile with the book of 1 John?

what you said about deeds not being our salvation conflicts with James 2:24 "You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone." how do you reconcile that?
