Fair enough. Consider it done.

You still haven't event glanced at the link. Allow me to quote the first two sentences: "In the New Law the altar is the table on which the Eucharistic Sacrifice is offered. Mass may sometimes be celebrated outside a sacred place, but never without an altar, or at least an altar-stone." Realize that in Roman Catholic Theology, a sacrifice is performed at each mass.

@Wikis I summarized it. The altar, under Roman Catholic Liturgy, is for making sacrifices. I gave a link to a Catholic resource that says this in the first sentence. Not sure what else you want. Sorry.

I recommend that you read the link I posted. I don't agree with the theology, so I'm not the one to be asking to defend it. Here is a link specifically regarding the sacrifice. newadvent.org/cathen/10006a.htm

comment In light of Mark 10, how can Christians in good conscience purchase luxury items?
@Ron Maimon There is no conflict in having wealth and being a Christian. There is a conflict in willingly oppressing people to gain wealth and considering yourself a Christian. However, neither of these is the point of the passage in question.

Great answer. I was a little discouraged when I read the first few highly-voted answers. They all seemed to just ignore the entire point of the passage, but yours does not.

comment Does yearning to know more about God for a stronger relationship leave us hanging in confusion?
It depends. In an effort to make yourself wise, do you arrogantly question, setting yourself up only for success in proving what you thought at your outset or do you question and challenge with a truly inquisitive and humble nature?

Just a suggestion... have you considered the level of trust it would take to allow another man to hold the inside of your leg, near your private parts? This is beyond a handshake..

comment Why isn't the virgin birth of Jesus mentioned in all of the gospels?
My guess also is that if it had appeared in each gospel that Maher would be contending that this is evidence of excessive corroboration between the gospel writers. I haven't seen the documentary? What's his point, that it must have been added after the fact since it is in neither Mark nor John?

comment What are the arguments for and against the Anglican Covenant?
I'm not an Anglican or Episcopalian, but this is the first thing I thought when I read the text.
