The birthdate I entered is farcical, as I prefer not to identify myself in any way online, but the age is in the ballpark.

comment Was Zwingli the first to preach lectio continua?
@Flimzy Interesting. Another (separate) question then might be at what point this became common in the Catholic church, because when Zwingli first did it it was an aberration from contemporary practice. Also, I'm sure it depends upon what part of the Protestant church one is in; in the churches I have been in (conservative Presbyterian), topical sermons are much less common than expository ones.

comment What did Charles Hodge teach about theology as science?
I was hoping you would offer an answer. :) +1 The article that @bruisedreed linked to in the comment above, though, discusses how Hodge approached theology as a science in which you use induction on the data of the Bible---is this an accurate representation? If so, that is hardly in agreement with Owen.

comment What did Charles Hodge teach about theology as science?
@Anonymous---yes, it seems probable; though Owen is also referring to the second definition, and rejecting that.

comment What did Charles Hodge teach about theology as science?
@bruisedreed Thanks, that is informative as to what Hodge taught, and it does seem to be the opposite of what Owen is saying. However, the way Hodge is being criticized today is vastly different than what Owen would say.

comment Justification of Recitation of Creeds in Public Worship according to the Regulative Principle
@frank.s I'm inclined to agree, but nevertheless some churches that seem serious about RPW do it. Surely there is some explanation.
