comment If the Ten Commandments say “thou shalt not kill” how can a Christian fight in a war?
@IgnatiusTheophorus: notice that Jesus did not kill in self-defense but rather allowed them to kill Him.

comment Why does God often permit his children to suffer in this world more than the wicked?
@Caleb: also note that "mainstream Christianity" is constantly in flux and is ever expanding, it is a moving target and influenced by man, please see the scriptures I linked.

@Caleb: I actually linked a video to this philosophy that just happens to be from the #1 biggest church in America: sermoncentral.com/articleb.asp?article=Top-100-Largest-Churches

@thejartender: just because the OP accepted an answer does not mean that you can not still answer and get more votes than the accepted answer....

@IgnatiusTheophorus: look at it this way, if Jesus could answer on this site, what do you truly believe His answer would be to all of those leaps in logic? Perhaps some, would be OK, others not.

@IgnatiusTheophorus: your losing your case here, yes obviously you can try to leave the room. When was trying to leave the room a question? But back to the original question - you CAN NOT kill your enemy.

comment God is love, pure, and all good, and omnipotent?
@DanAndrews: we can only comprehend small aspects of Him with our human brains. Love happens to be one of the ways we can identify with Him in this world

@IgnatiusTheophorus: This is true, they are the same - and what are we suppose to do in this case: "29 If someone hits you on the side of your face, let them hit the other side too. If someone takes your coat, don’t stop them from taking your shirt too." I understand this is not what we want to hear, is not life preserving, but Jesus says our reward is NOT here.

@Caleb: Jesus never resorted to violence, even when evil came to kill Him, He let them. We are asked to be little Christ's in Him.

if they break into our house we are suppose to give them everything they want, we are not suppose to be of this world. In addition fight in war is not the same.

It's simple, we either follow Jesus or we don't. The compassionate heart of Jesus does not comprehend war in any way and we are asked to be like Him. I pray the Holy Spirit guides us on this. Thanks.
