The actual question in the title is a great question to ask (not sure if it has been asked here before). As it stands though I agree with @AffableGeek and therefore my VTC.

comment What does the curse on the serpent mean?
I have heard this taught in a number of Anglican churches in Sydney Australia, although I would have assumed the "he" (as in he will crush your head) is the reference to Jesus, not the 'enmity'

Thanks Peter. Are Catholics expected to know Latin to understand what is being heard in the service, or is it just that it sounds beautiful that it should be done? I understand your point about it being the official language of the church but I'm still confused on why Roman Catholics who don't understand what is being said would sit through Mass in Latin

comment What Bible verses support infant baptism?
@Ries: Your first comment (which I agree with) says that you don't know the faith of the rest of the household who were baptised. So by that argument you can possibly baptise non-believing adults but not infants?

comment What's the point of the second commandment?
Not a complete answer, but I would argue that Jesus says all of the law is summed up in Love the Lord Your God and Love your Neighbour as yourself. The rest of the law comes from these. Why is any of it necessary? Because the law convicts us of our sin - it shows clearly what we are doing wrong.

@Ries I agree that Acts 16 and 18 doesn't say there are kids (I think there were but it doesn't say) but it also doesn't say if everyone in his household believed, YET the whole household was baptised.
