I've just read the Catholic Online article and found I've more-or-less restated their analysis, which they handily sum up as "These latest comments are consistent with Pope Francis' efforts to reach out to people of other faiths and of no faith at all. By emphasizing our common bonds, our Holy Father breaks down artificial barriers so that we may see, and love, one another more clearly." |

By what authority does the old Catholic Encyclopedia call itself Catholic? The date is useful, because developments since then (for example, one General Council, two new Missals, the entire corpus of Canon Law and several Motus Proprio) may well leave the text in need of adjustment. |

Why Christians wear some elaborate costumes which sometimes outshine those of the pre-Christian epoch? That particular crozier has a design based on Celtic patterns from the 8th-10th centuries. It's definitely Christian (the crozier itself is basically a shepherd's crook). I'm not sure what this question is asking. |

Does the Prophecy of St. Malachy allow for any Popes between the Glory of the Olive and Petrus Romanus? "Peter of Rome" could be a generic title for the Pope. Prophecies are inherently vague, and attempting to second-guess them before they can be tied to a particular event -- especially when you have to make assumptions about previous prophecies -- is Not Constructive. |

Is there any method to prevent an unbelieving pope from being elected? I would apply Canon 1372 to an ecclesiastical act (for example, issuing a Bull), not a potentially criminal act. |

Is there any method to prevent an unbelieving pope from being elected? @Mike It's a direct translation from Latin, and the word from is odd; I'd use about. A person will be punished if they complain to a meeting of bishops about an act of the pope. "Meeting of bishops" is simplistic, as an Ecumenical Council is all the bishops of the Church. |
