I'm a software developer by trade, and I love Jesus.

comment Why go to Church?
That verse is in the context of church discipline, not so much a reason to be involved in the church. It's certainly not a very good verse to put to music and play in a wedding. :)

@fredsbend I think that's a matter of opinion. Some women choose to do that when they're ready to no longer have children or periods. I don't believe a husband should make that particular decision for his wife, though. Also, I never said that having many children is a stigma. I simply stated that in many churches there is no stigma regarding birth control. Sorry if I offended you, but I most certainly did not intend to.

@Mason Romans 5:12-14 would give solid reason to believe no law had been given. If a law had been given, that passage would make no sense. Though the law is written on our hearts and consciences, there was no formal law given by man to people other than the law Adam broke by partaking of the tree. So yes, there is good reason to believe that the command to sacrifice Isaac could have been taken as a first law. That being said, it was a test of Abrahams obedience and trust, which God then used to display a foreshadowing of the salvation to come.

I'm not sure I understand the rhetorical question. You read the OT to understand the entirety of God's plan unfolding. Without having the understanding of the OT, and the foreshadowing and prophecies of what Christ would do on the cross, and understanding the law to understand the pickle we're in, the NT would make absolutely no sense. We read the law to know why we need Christ. We read prophecies to know that He is who he says He is. We read the foreshadowing parts to grow in awe and understanding of what He did.

comment What is the current relevance of Arianism?
Welcome to Christianity.SE! This is a great question, but unfortunately, it seems to be more than one question at the same time. I suggest you ask a separate question about the definition of consubstantiality, and leave the question about modern followers in this question. You may also want to ask it using questions that are not answerable using the yes/no format, as those typically make for better questions on this site.

Slight rephrase to eliminate redudancy. Fixed the text to be less redundant.
