Which is hell: punishment, or revenge? Hi Jon. Thanks for this long discussion. As you say, the answers aren't complete and clear, which is certainly an honest answer even if it is very inconclusive. The gist of what you're saying is that it's a bit of both, and more. And, from the passages you've mentioned, it does feel more like revenge than punishment to me. |

Which is hell: punishment, or revenge? Fair enough. Can you define the alternative in this case? One certainly wouldn't make a weed suffer. |

Which is hell: punishment, or revenge? Thanks Dan. I have read enough books. I just want to hear a simple, straight and logical answer from someone who actually knows why they believe what they believe, and can give me some direct references in the bible. Caleb here is not saying that hell is the absence of God... he says it's punishment for a crime. |

How do I get more faith? Feel free to contact me on Facebook (Stephen Oberauer) if you want to chat more... I'm very keen to help, if I can. |

How do I get more faith? @leeand00: I've found that finding answers is about asking the right questions. The right questions in your case, might be something like the following: 1. Does your faith (or lack thereof) affect YOUR morals? It actually seems that since you're so worried about morals, you probably will never lose them, no matter what your faith. 2. Is it moral to have faith in something, and possibly teach others about something, that deep down inside you know doesn't make sense? 3. Will you be happier knowing the truth, or believing what you're told to believe? |

How do I get more faith? @MarcGravell I completely agree... which is why I say you should first ask "Why do I want to have more faith?" I would say it's better to try to find out the truth by trying to understand why you doubt. |
