I am a web application developer working in PHP/MySQL/JQuery and related technologies. I also have attended two years of seminary. I am puritan in my theology and would point to the Westminster Standards as a good guide for theological questions.

What are the major differences between the NKJV and the ESV translations? Sorry, missed that. I am glad to hear that they are now taking the MT more seriously, however you have not given me an example where they PREFER a byzantine reading. All this tells me, as I understan it, is that they are deciding between two Alexandrian readings and giving more weight to a Byzantine reading in the process. |

What are the major differences between the NKJV and the ESV translations? Okay, can you give me an example from Nestle-Aland. |

What are the major differences between the NKJV and the ESV translations? Can you give me a specific example where a Byzantine MT reading overshadows a Alexandrian or Western reading in the CT? I agree that, if they agree it is considered to add weight, but they never follow the Byzantine away from the other families that I know of. |

What are the major differences between the NKJV and the ESV translations? I suppose that when you say this you mean that any text can be a "critical text" but that is not what I mean. In scholarly circles the Critical Text has specific meaning, a text based primarially on the Alexandrian family of documents with some influence from the Western family, completely ignoring the Byzantine family of texts which comprise 90%+ of the available biblical texts. The fact that they ignore the largest and most consistent family of texts, and instead chose to take texts that are much less consistent and then decide for themselves what is God's word worries me. |

Is it valid to use grape juice at Communion? Are you saying that wine is improper to use? If they used it back in Christ's day why not now? Also can you support with some documentation your statement that they mixed their wine with water, especially at the passover feast? |

Should a woman cover her head in Christian worship? Okay, then if it doesn't really matter, they why does Paul even bother to waste ink on the topic? In your view do the angels suddenly stop being offended? |

What is the Biblical basis for 'term eldership'? @Flimzy I kind of tend to think that there are some verses that apply directly here. Also could it be that there is a valid negative argument here. No terms are ever given for any Biblical offices. |

What is the biblical basis for lifetime eldership? @SamuelWarren I agree. I believe that elders can be more or less active. Some even go emeritus whatever that is :-) but I believe that the calling of an elder is for life. Just want scriptural backing for it. |

What did Calvin think about Knox's “Monstrous Regiment”? Wow, misogyny is a pretty strong word here. Have you actually read this tract yourself. Many misunderstand the title. The word "Regiment" in the title means rule. So what he is speaking against was the rule of women. If you are simply thinking that saying that those who say that women should not rule are hateful to women I would ask what you think of Paul in 2 Tim 2:12? If you are responding to his specific words about the Mary's, have you studied what they actually did? |
