What is giving up free will and giving it to Jesus mean? Is there particular scripture that led you to ask this question? Some biblical basis? If so, could you kindly add it to the post? |

What is the Rule of Prayer? I think you are missing the point of the question. The OP is asking for guidance or how to properly pray (if proper at all) for a victory in competitive situation, where the competition are also praying for victory; and how God responds to the situation. |

How do Catholics justify confessing to a priest? Is your question more along the lines of "How do Catholics justify their priests being the mediator to God for forgiveness/absolution of one's sins?" |

When I feel my church offering is being misused How so? I was trying making a separate point clear in my 1st paragraph, but I don't see how its inconsistent. Do you have any suggestions? |

When I feel my church offering is being misused @MasonWheeler That scripture seems to be speaking of people who aren't tithing, not those handling the tithes |

How does 1 John 2:19 fit with the teaching that Christians can lose their salvation "The meaning is simply that these false teachers left the Church (the apostolic fellowship), and by doing so proved that they also left Christ". This is not the meaning. Sure they left the congregation, but they were not really "of us" (the Church/Body). You can't leave the "Church/Christ" if you were not part of it in the first place. |

How does 1 John 2:19 fit with the teaching that Christians can lose their salvation I agree with your answer, but I'm trying to show that it is indeed related to conditional/unconditional security. I should not have said you were implying conditional security: I agree John is talking about the Church/Bride/Body, and by saying "They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us", they weren't really part of the "Church" to begin with. This is eternal security, is it not? |

How does 1 John 2:19 fit with the teaching that Christians can lose their salvation @BruceAlderman & Dan - Regardless of which doctrine, there is a point in one's walk when he/she crosses from darkness into light and becomes saved in Christ. I don't see how the Eastern/Western doctrine plays a role in my previous comment, since you can technically apply it to both. |

How does 1 John 2:19 fit with the teaching that Christians can lose their salvation If Church (in this reference) == Body of Christ && Body of Christ == All+Only those saved, then how does this not relate directly to conditional or eternal security? If John is implying the Body of Christ by saying "us", then this is implying conditional security.. Unless you are saying that one can be part of the Body and not be saved. |

What is the specific meaning of “day” in Genesis 1? Something to add to that: "And the Earth was without form..." - I'm sure the earth had a shape, so form here must mean a state of order: "The earth was without order, as darkness was upon the face of the deep." If darkness means evil, one could also translate this to mean Satan and his fallen angels, as they were cast out of heaven and onto the earth. |

What is the specific meaning of “day” in Genesis 1? That is quite an interesting interpretation. |

What is the specific meaning of “day” in Genesis 1? When we enter into the day of rest that Hebrews 3-4 speaks of, it will be a millenial (1000 year) reign of Christ. And it indeed relates this to the 6 days of work and 7th day of rest (Sabbath). So clearly your interpretation is not the only way to interpret it. |

Does believing in Christ activate God's word or just make us think and act different? @AffableGeek I've seen many situations where people give answers based on what a specific doctrine/branchofChristianity a person is. I don't think Jesus/God wanted divisions in the church, so why do we have divided answers? We are commanded to be of one mind, so why doesn't the community strive for that? If we follow the command of love, it shouldn't result in violent arguments..but just agree to disagree. Maybe I'll make a post in meta. |
