I'm the user formerly known as md5sum, for those who wonder.

Currently, I'm a developer in the Property & Casualty Insurance division of Accenture Software.

I started playing with GWBASIC on our Commodore Colt at around 5 years old, and it was all downhill from there. I have now been programming professionally since 2005 and have several more years of part-time/freelance programming under my belt as well.

Currently, I'm specialized in C#, ASP.Net 2.0, and MSSQL, but my work experience is quite broad, including C++, PHP, Javascript, WPF, VB6, VB.Net, ASP.Net, MySQL, and I've dabbled in many others.

comment What is the biblical basis to claim that masturbation is a sin?
@Pacerier - Yes, I consider Jesus a guy. Jesus was sent to us so that we would have someone to relate to here on earth, someone we could point to and say, "There's our example." If I don't consider Jesus a guy, and I am a guy, how can I relate to Him?

comment Will suicide keep me out of Heaven?
Jesus said "My peace I leave with you." (John 14:27) I'm not saying that "sin" cannot exist in the heart of a believer, since since is a condition of humanity. I'm saying that despair cannot. Is Jesus' peace just simply not enough for someone? Philippians 4:7 says that the peace we have from Christ transcends all understanding. Suicide is never the effort put forth from a peaceful soul.

comment Was Jesus a separate god?
@TRiG - I agree, Matt Slick is extremely pompous and arrogant, and his handling of moderation on his site is extremely ridiculous. However, from what I've seen, most of his research and writings are pretty much dead on.

Yes, but how could they have rebelled in the first place if God's will IS done in Heaven?

comment How could Cain have built Enoch?
I believe being eternally remembered as the first murderer is a pretty significant punishment in itself... even today nobody likes Cain.

comment Why do Catholics put so much faith in the Virgin Mary?
I'd like to make a distinction between being servants and being children. A servant has no vested interest in his work.

Every Protestant tradition I'm familiar with holds that suicide is self-murder, which is sin, and if successful, prevents you from having the opportunity of asking forgiveness for it...

comment What symbols have represented Christianity through the years?
I think this may not be the best place to ask questions like this: "Your questions should be reasonably scoped. If you can imagine an entire book that answers your question, you’re asking too much."

The words "lovers of their own selves" (φίλαυτος), "lovers of pleasures" (φιλήδονος), and "lovers of God" (φιλόθεος) in this passage are in no way sexual or sensual. They each share a common root "φιλ" (pronounced "phil") which is from "φιλία" which is the love of a friend, specifically NOT "ἔρως" (eros) which is passionate love.

As long as He never makes said stone, He has the power to create it. At the point that He makes it, He has the power to move it :D

comment A “version” of the bible with sentence structure written in English but retaining most of the original untranslated “nouns/verbs/adjectives”?
+1 I'd never seen this version before.

comment Was Jesus finite or infinite? (human or God?)
That is true, the infinitesimal mind of man cannot comprehend the true nature of God. He had to give up some of that complexity to join us here on earth. And we have the power of God through the Holy Spirit as well as Christ did. He was our example, showing us what could be done through the power of God.

My point is not to argue or debate you at all. My point is to try and get you to introduce references into your position. As I stated in my answer, the belief that predestination is true or false is only clear to the person who holds that belief. The only thing you've presented is a flawed chain of logic (and I don't say it's flawed because I don't agree with it, I say it's flawed because you're jumping to very far conclusions of what must be believed to believe in predestination, and even stating a position held true by the Bible in point 2 of your argument against the viewpoint).

Is God the creator of everything? If you accept that God created everything, then you must also accept that God created evil. Otherwise, it simply wouldn't exist.

From the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:10) - "Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven" states that God's will is done in Heaven. Yet, Lucifer led a revolution against God, and Revelation 12:7 says "There was war in Heaven". So, is God's will done in Heaven, as Jesus stated in The Lord's Prayer? If so, then the revolt of Lucifer and his followers was God's will, which ultimately led to the downfall of man. Acting against God's commands is not equal to acting against the will of God.

Nothing you can do CAN save you... this breaks the second link in your chain of logic. How you got from nothing I can do being able to save me (a Biblical truth) to God creating evil people is unclear as well.

@Jared - By this time when Jesus was praying, Judas had already made his decision, and soon went and hung himself. Would you say that he was saved or lost? If he was lost, then Jesus lied saying he had kept all that were given Him, unless Judas was not given him to save, in which case he was still doomed to be lost.

@Jared - The JW's don't believe there is a limited number of people who will be saved, they only believe that there will be a limited number who go to Heaven, and will in turn reign on earth from the New Jerusalem.
